Do you Need Apostille Translation?

When dealing with official matters abroad, it is crucial to ensure that all necessary documents are authenticated with an apostille. An apostille serves as an internationally recognized validation, confirming the authenticity and legitimacy of documents.

The apostille acts as a seal of approval from the issuing country’s authorities, verifying that the documents are genuine. Without this essential certification, your documents may be considered invalid or unauthorized by the foreign government, potentially leading to rejection.

By obtaining authentication for your essential documents, you assure foreign authorities that your paperwork adheres to the necessary legal requirements. This streamlined authentication process facilitates smooth interactions with international governments, institutions, and employers, ensuring your rights and privileges are upheld without unnecessary obstacles.

To safeguard your opportunities and avoid setbacks, it is vital to ensure that all documents required for official purposes abroad are appropriately apostilled. This proactive approach provides the confidence and peace of mind needed to navigate the complexities of international endeavors successfully.

What is an Apostille?

An apostille verifies the authenticity of a document required for official purposes, such as birth, death, and marriage certificates, among other paperwork. Documents without an apostille will not be recognized by the receiving public authority. In some cases, the apostille itself must also be translated into the relevant language.

Before an apostille can be issued, documents must first be certified and notarized by our team or the translation company responsible for the new content. For our U.K. projects, these documents are then sent to the Legalisation Department in the Foreign Office in Milton Keynes. The entire process typically takes up to three weeks to complete, and the authenticated documents are sent directly to the client. A tracking reference can be provided upon request.

What is the cost of a notarized translation with apostille?

The fee for issuing an apostille varies widely by country and sometimes even by state within a country. For instance, in 2016, the HCCH compiled fees from 54 states and found an average cost of 15.43 EUR. Some countries, like France and Japan, do not charge a fee, while others, like the Cayman Islands, charge 150 KYD (180 USD), one of the highest fees.

In the United States, fees can vary significantly by state and document type. For example, Indiana does not charge a fee for an apostille on a birth certificate, while Connecticut charges 40 USD for an apostille not related to adoption.
